What does Advocacy do?

Advocacy enables people with disabilities to achieve their rights.

Who can receive Individual Advocacy?

All people with disabilities and these disabilities can include;
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Physical
  • Intellectual
  • Sensory
  • Psychiatric
  • Psychological
  • Multiple disabilities

Families are involved wherever possible and appropriate.

What will DAIS do?

  • Assist people with disabilities to resolve problems.
  • Provide information and support.
  • Refer to appropriate services.
  • Represent individuals when dealing with service providers.
  • Take issues to government departments and Ministers.
  • Instigate proceedings in the Equal Opportunity Commission.
  • Refer to the Commissioner for Discrimination.
